ISRO’s K Sivan Confident in Success of Chandrayaan-3 Moon Mission

Former ISRO Chairman K Sivan, who led Chandrayaan-2, is confident about Chandrayaan-3’s success. He expressed anticipation for the August 23 moon landing and emphasized the lessons learned from Chandrayaan-2’s challenges.

Sivan assured that improvements and redundancies were implemented for Chandrayaan-3, increasing confidence in its success. The spacecraft has completed Moon-bound maneuvers, with the next crucial step being lander and propulsion module separation on August 17.

Chandrayaan-3, launched on July 14, is nearing the Moon’s surface at 163 km away. Its gradual orbit reduction maneuver commenced on August 16. The landing process involves intricate braking maneuvers for a soft landing in the lunar South Polar region on August 23.
